About OddsDetective — who we are and how we compare odds

What this site is

OddsDetective.com is an independent, English-language comparison site for sports bettors worldwide. We do one thing and document it: we compare the margins bookmakers build into their published odds — across fiat and crypto sportsbooks — and rank the books by how much of your money their prices quietly keep. The result is the bookmaker ranking, the league-by-league football file, the live World Cup 2026 comparison and two free tools: an odds converter and a margin calculator.

We are not a bookmaker, we do not accept bets, and we do not sell tips. We publish analysis and explain how to use it.

Methodology: how the margins are measured

1. Consistent sample. Each month we compare published odds on the same set of fixture types across the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and — during the tournament — the 2026 World Cup.
2. Same-hour snapshots. We record the main 1X2 (and selected Asian handicap and totals) prices at all nine tracked bookmakers within the same hour, so the comparison is between books, not between points in time.
3. Margin per market. Every market's decimal odds are converted to implied probabilities and summed; the excess over 100% is that book's margin on that market.
4. Scores and ranking. Books are scored 60% on average margin, 20% on market depth (sports, leagues, bet types) and 20% on reliability (limits, settlement speed, payment record). The ranking is re-computed after every monthly sample.

Numbers on the site are rounded to one decimal and dated. Margins drift week to week — deviations of a few tenths between our published figure and what you measure today are normal. When a book moves materially, the ranking moves with it.

How the site is funded

Through affiliate partnerships: some outbound links (marked as sponsored, routed via /go/) pay us a commission if you open an account. Two things keep that honest. First, the ranking is produced by the measurement process above — a commission cannot buy a lower margin. Second, we link to bookmakers we rank whether or not a partnership exists; Pinnacle and Bet365 sit where the data puts them.

We never publish "exclusive" prices we have not verified, and we never frame betting as income. If a page ever reads like an advertisement instead of an investigation, hold us to it: editorial@oddsdetective.com.

Editorial principles

• Compare, then write. Every ranked claim traces back to a published odds snapshot.
• Consistent numbers. The same margin figure for a book appears identically across the site, sourced from the latest sample.
• No hype. No "guaranteed wins", no urgency, no "bet now". Betting has a built-in cost; our job is showing where it is smallest.
• 18+ and responsible. Every page links to responsible gambling resources. If betting stops being entertainment, stop betting — no price makes up for that.
